HOW DOES Y-BRUSH WORK?
Does Y-Brush remove plaque?
Thanks to sonic technology and 35,000 nylon bristles, Y-Brush is highly effective at addressing plaque.
Sonic technology uses high-frequency sound vibrations to agitate fluids (water, saliva) in the mouth, helping to dislodge plaque, bacteria and food particles from teeth and gums.
These rapid vibrations generate a stream of fluid that reaches interdental spaces where the brush does not even physically touch, providing far better deep cleaning.
In the most recent study, Y-Brush is shown to be just as effective as leading sonic toothbrushes – in half the time.

How does Y-Brushdeliver a thorough clean in just 20 seconds?
With Y-Brush, you actually get the FULL BENEFIT of a 2 minute brushing – but in less time.
Here’s the math!
On average, humans have 28-32 teeth.
And each tooth has 3 facets that need to be kept clean.
This means during a standard 2-minute brush (120 seconds) each tooth is brushed in total for about 4 seconds, with each facet receiving about 1-1.5 seconds of care.
With Y-Brush, all facets of each tooth receive 10 seconds of brushing attention thanks to its Y-shape, which cleans all your teeth simultaneously. If you’re following, that means each tooth receives TWICE the amount of care vs. a regular brushing, and each facet receives MORE THAN 5 TIMES the amount of care!
So yes, you can save time while brushing without any compromise when it comes to plaque removal!
Further, because the Y-Brush is designed to reach all the teeth at once, every area receives the same amount of attention. This is in contrast to manual brushing, where we may inadvertently brush too hard or even not enough in certain areas. Y-Brush ensures a proper, even clean for every tooth.

What do dentists have to say about Y-Brush?
Y-Brush was created in collaboration with dentists. It took two years of research to bring the first version of the product to market. We have partnerships with a network of French dentists who recommend us to their patients for various needs. And we are in the process of developing our dental network in the US.

How do thebrush heads work if everyone has different jaw shapes and sizes?
Y-Brush brush heads come in 2 sizes:
(S) for children ages 4-12 and for people with small jaws (this is sometimes the case for women who have had their wisdom teeth removed)
(M) for everyone 12+
The brush itself is very soft and flexible, so it will adapt to the specific curve of a person’s jaw.
Will the brush head reach my back teeth?
The brush head is designed to be moved from side to side while brushing, which allows it to reach the back teeth for a complete and thorough clean.
Why is Y-Brush single-sided and not double-sided?
Because a single-sided model is both more comfortable to use and more effective than a double-sided one!
Are the bristles soft?
The bristles are as soft as those of a soft toothbrush. This is the healthiest and most comfortable for teeth and gums.
Do I still need to floss when I use Y-Brush?
Y-Brush is an important part of a complete oral care routine. Thanks to the uniquely shaped brush head, the Y-Brush reaches tricky spots that can often be missed. In addition, for optimal oral health, you should still continue to floss or use interdental brushes as well as visit the dentist regularly.
Does Y-Brush whiten teeth?
The Y-Brush itself does not have whitening properties, but it makes a great partner for whitening toothpastes!
CHOOSING MY Y-BRUSH
Whatis the difference between NylonStart and NylonBlack?
NylonStart has one brushing mode, and NylonBlack has four brushing modes that differ in both time and intensity of vibration. NylonBlack is especially beneficial for those with more sensitive teeth and gums, as it allows you to more precisely customize the brushing experience.
What brush head size should I choose?
Size S is recommended for children ages 4 - 12 AND for adults with small jaws (this sometimes applies to women who have had their wisdom teeth removed)
Size M is recommended for most adults AND children 12+
Can I choose a soft, medium or hard bristled brush?
Medium and hard bristles are no longer recommended for brushing, as they can damage gums and enamel. That’s why we only manufacture brushes with soft bristles.
USING AND CARING FOR MY Y-BRUSH
Do I need to buy a special toothpaste or can I use my own?
Any type of toothpaste can be used with Y-Brush.
How do I apply toothbrush to my Y-Brush?
If you don’t have our toothpaste applicator, put 3 dots of toothbrush on the brush: one on the left, one on the right, and one in the middle. This ensures full coverage while reducing the amount of toothpaste used.
If you do have the toothpaste applicator, just use it to apply a thin line following the brush head from left to right. This allows you to distribute the optimal amount of toothbrush, avoiding waste.
Why is it important to bite down and turn the brush from side to side when brushing?
For optimal brushing, it’s important to do two things: First, you need to bite down lightly while the brush is in motion, which ensures the toothbrush reaches the entirety of each tooth, as well as the gums.
Second, you need to shift the brush from side to side while doing so, which ensures the brush effectively reaches the back molars.
How do I clean my Y-Brush?
Just like with a normal toothbrush, simply rinse the brush head after each use. You can stretch the brush slightly with your fingers to rinse between the bristles if necessary.
For a deeper clean, try a mouthwash soak. Mix a 2:1 solution of water to mouthwash and let your brush head soak overnight.
Where should I put my brush when I'm not using it?
When not in use, you can place your brush on the rim of a glass or other container to let it air dry. Avoid storing it in an enclosed space.
How often should the brush head be replaced?
As with a typical toothbrush, the brush head should be replaced every 4 months.
How long does the Y-Brush battery last? / How do I recharge it? / How long does it take to recharge?
The Y-Brush battery lasts for 3 months. It charges thanks to a USB-B charging cable (included with your brush.). Just connect the cable to a USB-B compatible power source, connect your brush handle, and after 2 hours it will be fully charged. Then the battery will last for another 3 months!
Y-BRUSH AND CHILDREN
Will this work for children?
Yes, Y-Brush is an excellent choice for children starting from the age of 4. It’s a great solution to ensure children receive an excellent, thorough clean in no time at all. And because of the simplified motion, it promotes independent toothbrushing even for little ones. Kids love it! And so do parents.
I HAVE BEEN USING MY Y-BRUSH AND HAVESOME QUESTIONS
Ihad some minor bleeding around my gums for the first few days. Is this normal?
Minor bleeding may occur in the first few days, similar to when you visit the dentist. This is not anything to be concerned about, in fact it's a good sign! It shows your gums are being stimulated and it should stop after 1-3 days of using your new brush.
The bristles on my brush head have started to show some wear. Am I doing something wrong?
When you bite down with too much force, the bristles (generally those at the back, towards the molars) are put under greater stress and may become damaged more quickly. Try biting down gently, but still just as quickly, and the bristles will be less susceptible to damage. Regardless, as with all toothbrushes, replacing the brush head every 4 months is recommended.
Sometimes my mouth feels less fresh than with a typical toothbrush. Am I doing something wrong?
This is normal. With a typical toothbrush, the toothpaste foams when it interacts with your saliva and disperses throughout your mouth. With Y-Brush, the toothpaste remains in the curve of the brush head, where your saliva activates it, which sometimes means less toothpaste will reach the rest of your mouth.
If having this fresh sensation is important to you, you can try toothpaste tablets instead of a gel or paste. You chew on the tablet first, which activates with your saliva and dissolves into a foam. Then you use your Y-Brush!
Why are Y-Brush replacement brush heads on the more expensive side?
Our manufacturing process ensures that Y-Brush brush heads are made of highest-quality materials. We use very fine nylon bristles and other medical-grade materials that are indeed more expensive to source and produce than products made with lower-quality materials. We understand price can be a barrier and we are committed to offering the lowest possible price on our products without compromising their quality or efficacy.
I HAVE A SPECIFIC HEALTH CONCERN. IS Y-BRUSH SUITABLE FOR ME?
I have periodontitis or gingivitis. Is Y-Brush suitable?
Of course! There are no contraindications to using Y-Brush. If you can use an electric toothbrush, then you can use Y-Brush.
I have a crown, filling, or bridge. Can I use Y-Brush?
Yes, of course. Y-Brush's sonic technology and soft nylon bristles are just the thing.
My gums are receding. Can I use Y-Brush?
Check with your dentist and follow their recommendation. Y-Brush can be used if you are cleared to use an electric toothbrush.
Can I use Y-Brush if I have teeth that are loose or moving?
Don't hesitate to ask your dentist for advice on the recommended use (or otherwise) of an electric toothbrush. Y-Brush can be used when using an electric toothbrush is accepted or preferred.
How does Y-Brush work with someone who has braces or aligners?
There's no doubt about Y-Brush's effectiveness for people with braces and aligners. The arrangement and flexibility of the bristles on our brush head ensures good brushing. With braces, it’s possible the brush may get damaged more easily, so don't hesitate to switch out for a new brush head as frequently as needed.
QUESTIONS ABOUT SONIC TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSHES
Whatis a sonic toothbrush?
A sonic toothbrush is a type of electric toothbrush that uses sonic technology to clean teeth. This technology is based on the use of high-frequency sound vibrations to agitate fluids (water, saliva) in the mouth, helping to dislodge plaque, bacteria and food particles from teeth and gums. These rapid vibrations generate a flow that penetrates the interdental spaces, providing far better deep cleaning. In concrete terms, a sonic toothbrush like Y-Brush or Philips Sonicare emits vibrations at frequencies ranging from 24,000 to 48,000 strokes per minute, or even more, whereas other electric toothbrushes.
Sonic toothbrushes are renowned for their effectiveness in removing plaque, despite their higher price tag. They are also equipped with functions such as timers, pressure sensors and different brushing modes, allowing you to tailor care to your specific needs.
The Y-Brush rechargeable toothbrush is made of 3500 nylon bristles, providing better brushing than silicone brushes. The long-lasting battery lasts for 4 months, so you can easily take your brush and cable with you when you travel.
What's the difference between Y-Brush technology andinexpensive products that look similar and claim to offer the same benefit?
Y-Brush is totally different from other similar shaped “whole mouth” toothbrushes on the market. These other products use large silicone bristles, which independent research has shown to be ineffective against plaque. Y-Brush is the only Y-shaped brush that uses fine nylon bristles, which are highly effective at plaque removal.
Silicone bristles are too soft to address plaque, and far too wide to actually reach areas where plaque likes to hide.
What's the difference between Y-Brush and an oscillating-rotating electric toothbrush?
Y-Brush’s gentle efficacy is thanks to a different technology: sonic technology.
Sonic technology is less aggressive than the technology found in oscillating-rotating brushes.
Depending on the Y-Brush you choose, there are multiple sonic vibration modes: gentle, normal or intensive. You can choose the mode you use according to your level of sensitivity or specific brushing needs.
Does Y-Brush use ultrasonic technology?
Y-Brush is not an ultrasonic toothbrush. The technology used is purely sonic (20,000 vibrations/minute).
